September Newsletter

Welcome to the LEaF Newsletter

Welcome to our September newsletter! With international holidays back in full swing throughout summer, we will be highlighting our COVID Language Hub to help you on your travels. We will also be introducing our most recent blog and one of our clients VIVANI.

COVID Language Hub
————————————

COVID-19 has changed every aspect of our lives, including the language we speak. Phrases like lockdown, furlough and underlying health conditions are now in common use. We have put together glossaries of the key terms in seven different languages. Wondering how to say facemask in Japanese, Greek or Spanish? What is the correct term for vaccine passport in Chinese?

Word of the Month

Who else has had an age-otori before?

Discovering words from other languages which we don’t have in our own, is something we find fascinating! Every language is so varied that there is always something fruitful to be found in them.

Hopefully no one experiences an age-otori, but if you do, you’ve got a word for it.

What do you think?

We would like to know what you think about various topics – from current issues to your thoughts on grammar problems. Our polls can be found on our Instagram story (and highlights) after each monthly newsletter and we will let you know the results in the following newsletter.

Head to our social media pages for our first monthly poll, beginning with a grammar problem:

Which article (a/an) would you use to fill the gap and complete this sentence: “it was ___ historic day”?

Introducing: VIVANI
———————————

We have had the pleasure of providing German to English website and blog translations for VIVANI since 2019. It is a German chocolate brand specialising in high-quality, organic and ethically sourced chocolate, packaged in sustainable packaging (compostable foil instead of plastic). VIVANI’s parent company, Ecofinia, also sells a number of delicious vegan chocolate bars under the brand iChoc. After extensive testing, we can confirm these vegan chocolate bars are delicious!
