LEaF Translations shortlisted for the FSB Sustainability Award

We are excited to announce that we have been shortlisted for the 2023 FSB Sustainability Award for Yorkshire and the Humber.

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) have been supporting small business owners and the self-employed since the 1970s. They offer tools, advice and a local support network ensuring businesses can run smoothly and effectively.

The FSB awards were created to celebrate the achievements and contributions of small businesses. As well as the Sustainability Award, the categories include the Community Award, the Diversity and Inclusion Award and the Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

For LEaF Translations, it is an honour to be recognised for our achievements in sustainability – we are delighted to be shortlisted in a category with so many other fantastic small businesses who share our core values. See the full list of finalists here.

Not only are we delighted to be flying the flag for sustainability within the translation industry but we are also thrilled to be amongst many other York-based businesses who have also been shortlisted: Ink Gardener Copywriting, Uniquely Local Experiences, York Podiatry and Experience Heritage. We are looking forward to celebrating with all the other great businesses who have been nominated on 24th February 2023 in Leeds.

“FSB Yorkshire and The Humber’s Celebrating Small Business Awards have gone from strength to strength, with businesses from right across the area lifting prizes in a host of categories. From sole traders and micro businesses, to those with substantial workforces, the Awards have attracted a tremendous number and range of entries and established themselves as a highly valued platform within the small business sector. “

We are passionate about sustainability

Sustainability has been part of the foundation of LEaF Translations from the very beginning and it remains something which is very close to our hearts.

We understand the importance of protecting our environment and are proud of our achievements so far:

  • Since 2020, we have worked with Ecologi who have enabled us to expand our virtual forest. It currently contains over 2,000 trees and we are proud to have offset over 55 tonnes of carbon. Our goal for 2023 is to increase the number of trees in our virtual forest to 2,500 and reach 65 tonnes of carbon reduction.
  • We are a paperless company and avoid using single-use plastics where possible.
  • We only work with translators who share the same core values as LEaF Translations.
  • We regularly share our journey to Net Zero on our social media pages and at networking events, as well as inspiring others at events such as the York and North Yorkshire Local Area Partnership Business Summit which was held in York, 2022.

Not bad for a small translation company from York!
